1) STEEL
All of our furniture is constructed from industrial grade mild steel. Unlike Stainless steel or Galvanized steel mild steel can be hand polished to produce a more luxurious finish.
Mild steel if untreated is susceptible to corrosion if in contact with moisture. All of our steel furniture is hand lacquered in our workshop which provides a durable protective finish that allows the beauty of the hand polished steel to shine through.
As with any lacquered surface if this is damaged then the steel beneath will then become exposed and open to possible corrosion.
We recommend that any metal surfaces are kept clean by lightly dusting. For more stubborn marks a spray oil such as WD40 can be used with paper towel. This is also recommended to help treat any minor scuff marks on the lacquer. Do not use any harsh solvent or silicone based cleaning products or abrasives.
As with any mild steel item it is impossible to predict how long it will take for rust to develop. We do our best to ensure items are thoroughly protected though cannot guarantee that any rust will not appear at some point in the products life.
2) WOOD

Real wood needs to be treated with care. Avoid direct sunlight as this can fade the wood dyes used. Wood has a moisture content relative to its surrounding environment. Avoid placing furniture directly in front of intense heat sources such as wood burners or radiators as this will dry out the wood and possibly cause it to shrink and/or warp.
Pine products will be coated with clear matt varnish which offers a heat and water resistant finish. This can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soapy water if required.
Hard woods such as Oak and Walnut will be coated with Danish Oil which has varnish as one of its ingredients. We find this product offers both a durable and luxurious finish. The product can be applied to a matt, satin or gloss finish. If an oiled surface is damaged it can be possible for the effected area to be lightly sanded and re-oiled though we recommend sourcing a local trained professional to undertake this type of repair.
Hard woods will require additional coats of clear Danish Oil to keep them looking good. It is advisable to oil 2-4 times per year depending on the environment and use of the item. Clear Danish Oil can be purchased from most hardware stores. Please following the instructions on the label or contact us direct for help.
Do not use any harsh abrasives, solvent or silicone based cleaning products on any part of our furniture.
To avoid damage to table tops we strongly advise the use of coasters and place mats. A table cloth may also be recommended if there is an increased risk of spillages such as a dinner party.
3) GLASS

We use toughened safety glass on all items of furniture if stated. Standard household glass cleaner can be used with caution but should not come into contact with any wood or metal surfaces. Do not use abrasive sponges/scouring pads as this may scratch the glass.
4) FABRIC and LEATHER

Fabric colours will fade over time if exposed to direct sunlight. Plump up the cushions weekly and rotate them once a month to ensure even wear. Remove surface dust regularly using a vacuum upholstery nozzle. Do not place fabric covers in a washing machine, for full cleaning we recommend that you use a specialist cleaning company once a year.
Leather should be positioned away from direct sunlight as colour fading may occur. Do not place near direct heat sources. For general cleaning use a soft dry cloth. If vacuuming use a soft brush nozzle attachment to avoid scratching. If required, wipe down the leather with a soft damp cloth. Avoid detergents, excessive water or solvents.
Whenever you choose to try a new cleaning method do a patch test on a hidden area first to convince yourself of the results. For more intensive cleaning it is advised to contact a specialist leather cleaning company.
Please be advised that fabric and leather can soak up strong smells such as pet odour and from smoking.
