Is it possible to furnish a nursery and expect that furniture to last your child till college? Very much so.
To furnish a child's room effectively, you have to treat it much as you would treat any other room.
* Choose multi-functional furniture that is also built to be durable. Don't stint on quality, because this furniture is meant to last.
Choose a style of furniture that is not overly cutesy. It should appeal to you and have some similarity to the rest of the furniture in your home.
* Let the changes in the child's room happen through accents and accessories, wall art, drapes, and room color, instead of changing out furniture.
Keeping all this in mind, convertible cribs are also a viable solution as they can be changed into toddler beds or even full size beds with the help of add-on kits.
Proper storage chests and shelves can always stay in use, it is only what is stored in them that changes. Tables and chairs can also be adapted to the needs of a growing child.
Even if parents decide not to go the crib-into-bed route that convertible cribs offer, there are plenty of other choices for youth beds that can easily take them from toddlers to teenagers. Some of these beds can then easily find a second life as guestroom beds once the child grows up and leaves home.
