Indian garment exporters are turning to specialization with good quantity of orders on hand and strong competition faced from China.<\/p>\n
Larger garment manufacturers are catering to the big ticket retialers like Walmart and JC Penny, whereas smaller manufacturers are equipping themselves to cater to specialised orders largely being received from Europe.<\/p>\n
Exports to the EU have risen by 20 percent during last year with the US still being the largest market for Indian textile products.<\/p>\n
India\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s share of apparel imports by the EU was 5.76 percent in 2005.<\/p>\n
EU\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s total apparel import was 4 percent higher than previous year to Euro51 billion in 2005.<\/p>\n
Companies are creating separate divisions or outsourcing orders to job workers who execute orders in small quantities or volumes.<\/p>\n
These orders are largely for clothing with embroidery, prints, hand dyes or zariwork (brocade).<\/p>\n
Krishna Knitwear Technology has embarked on installing embroidery and printing machines to upgrade facilities.<\/p>\n
According to Sanjaykumar Tayal, Chairman of Krishna says that small order of garment manufacturing is outsourced if the demand is high.<\/p>\n
Following suit is Rahul Mehta, Managing Director of Creative Group, the Mumbai-based garment exporter manufactures for brands like Replay and Diesel in Europe and JC Penney and Arrow in the US, and also executes orders from lesser known foreign brands.<\/p>\n
Most companies in the textile and garments sector do not have high turnover and increased orders have offered a new lease of life as they were being forced to shut operations.<\/p>\n
Domestic clothing market has also risen up 1.5 times of export market with a number of textile firms expecting better profits this financial year.
