A research study recently completed by Unity Marketing concludes that American consumers’ spending patterns signal a greater preference for more luxurious jewelry and watches.<\/p>\n
According to the study, Jewelry and Watch Report 2007, consumers spent US$62.2 billion buying jewelry and watches in 2006, which represented an increase of 6.5 percent over comparable previous year sales.<\/p>\n
Results from the study, which involved surveying 750 recent jewelry and watch consumers, uncovered an increase in demand for gemstone jewelry, especially for colored semi-precious stones and diamond.<\/p>\n
Pam Danziger, President of Unity Marketing, commented, “Jewelry shoppers moved more up-market in 2006, choosing to buy fine jewelry and watches more frequently, rather than their cheaper costume counterparts. With their eye on more expensive designs, they turned more often to specialty jewelry stores where they got expert advice which boosted their confidence to spend the substantial amounts they did for their purchases.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
