\n Dhaka, Aug 23 (bdnews24.com) \u2013 Garment workers vandalised machinery and reportedly attacked factory officials in Gazipur Thursday, after employers handed notices to two fellow workers, forcing the factory to shut its doors.

\nAnother factory in Savar was forced to close after property was damaged, and several people sustained injuries, in an apparently unmotivated attack by ‘outsiders’.<\/p>\n
Police arrested three people on charges of being involved in vandalism at the Gazipur factory.<\/p>\n
Workers of NAZ Bangladesh Ltd attacked officials and vandalised the factory premises after two of their colleagues received show cause notices, bdnews24.com Gazipur correspondent reported.<\/p>\n
Six people were injured in the violence.<\/p>\n
Nazmul Islam Khan, sub inspector of Joydevpur Police Station, told bdnews24.com that machinery and windows were damaged in the incident.<\/p>\n
Police stepped in and calmed the situation, but authorities shut down the factory.<\/p>\n
In Savar, unknown perpetrators broke in and vandalised garment unit ‘S-21’ in Narsinghapur. Seven people were injured in the attack, bdnews24.com Savar correspondent reported.<\/p>\n
Factory workers blocked the Dhaka-Tangail highway for about half an hour in the evening, in protest at the attack.<\/p>\n
Assistant sub inspector Touhidul Islam of Ashulia Police Station said up to 20 unidentified people attacked the factory at around 5.45pm.<\/p>\n
Ashulia police chief Rafiqul Islam said police had arrested three on charges of being involved in the incident.<\/p>\n
Contacted by bdnews24.com, general manager of the unit Md Nadeem could not explain the motive for the assault.<\/p>\n
He said the assailants had vandalised property worth Tk 5 lakh.<\/p>\n
