DHARMAPURI/TIRUPUR: Dharmapuri is slowly emerging as a garment hub. Now more than 22 stitching units are functioning around Dharmapuri, employing nearly 500 women.

Reeling under severe shortage of skilled labourers, garment manufacturers from Tirupur and Salem are now supplying fabric through agents to these stitching units.

Proximity to textile hubs of Salem, Erode, Tirupur and Coimbatore on the one side and Bangalore on the other, located on National Highway 7 and well connected by road and rail networks to Chennai port and Bangalore airport are the advantages of the district. Turkey gets knitting on garment alliance deal
Vietnam Investment Review, Vietnam

Turkey, the world’s fourth largest exporter of ready-made garments, is setting its eyes on Vietnam as a manufacturing base because of its low-cost, skilled labour.
Turkish-Vietnamese Business Council chairman Muzaffer Arslan said Turkish companies have opened hundreds of factories in Asia, especially in China over the last few years due to high labour costs at home.
“I am encouraging Turkish garment and textile companies to invest in Vietnam as it has a lot of advantages in terms of labour and favourable policies for foreign investors,” Arslan said. Read more about Turkey gets knitting on garment alliance deal
