Dubai: The UAE’s garment industry is feeling the pinch as local manufacturers lose their meagre market share to exporters from low-production centres like China, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.The rising cost of doing business in the UAE is also taking a toll on the industry as the labour-intensive sector employs about 180 staff per establishment. Ha Noi (VNA) – The Viet Nam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas) is calling on garment and textile businesses nationwide to attend Source It Fair, saying that this is a good chance for them to advertise their products to international customers.

The fair, which will be held in Shanghai, China, from October 29 to November 1, will offer Vietnamese producers an opportunity to seek materials from China, the world’s leading garment exporter, and other countries with an advanced textile industry. Siti Faiza Hidayati Mardzoeki (Faiza Mardzoeki), 35, sat relaxed on a bench at a small cafe in Central Jakarta. Once in a while, she took a sip from her favorite drink — orange juice.

She had just attended a meeting with the crew after concluding the three-day performance of Nyai Ontosoroh, for which she was the scriptwriter.

More than 200 workers of the Inter Buda garment factory in Pathum Thani yesterday staged a rally in front of the plant after the employer shut down the factory without prior notice.

Textile Turnaround Spins in $9.7m from Exports

For Nazareth Garment Factory, located in Adama town 100Km east of Addis Abeba, the just ended Ethiopian fiscal year [2014/08] has been a period of recovery and optimism. The factory managed to export 4,000 pieces of uniforms to the U.S. based company, Fair Glory, thus generating a monthly revenue of 100,000 dollars.
