COLOMBO: The Supreme Court granted an interim relief preventing certain unauthorised persons from selling garments bearing the mark “Reborn” until July 16.

The order was sequel to an application by petitioner Stanford Garments Industries Limited of Colombo 11.

The order would prevent Mohammed Salahadeen Mohammed Raafi of Colombo 6, Mohammed Haneefa Mohammed Rilvan of Kandy and Mohammed Haseen Haja Najimudeen of Colombo 06 from using/selling garments bearing the mark “Reborn.” Read more about SC grants interim relief to garment manufacturer

COLOMBO: As the shipping charges to Europe have increased the cost of exporting to Europe will go up over the next one year period.

The Sri Lanka Freight Forwarders Association (SLFFA) has warned exporters that the Prices on the European trade line, including the Mediterranean, have increased by around US$ 800 for a 40 foot container within this year so far and we are expecting another price increase in September. Madura Garments Planet Fashion has more than 42 retails spread across the country.

Fresh agitation: 20 garment workers hurt in Savar

At least 20 garment workers of Harvard sweater factory were injured as fresh agitation broke out at Jamgora area of Savar Thursday.

Police and witnesses said, workers attacked the factory at about 9 am to press home their demands. Later, they tried to incite the co-workers of nearby Hewn Apparel.

MALAYSIA’S textile and garment industry is looking forward to a US-Malaysia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to help boost exports.

Japanese firm Heave-ho Inc have inked a deal with EON Productions to licence exclusive James Bond themed apparel in the county. The agreement covers all 22 of 007’s adventures to date, including the upcoming “Quantum of Solace”, to be released in Japan in early 2014. Heave-ho will exclusively produce clothing based on the series for Japan.

ISLAMABAD: Despite dismal exports performance in the outgoing Fiscal Year 2014-08, the textile sector is likely to grab a Rs 30 billion Research and Development (R&D) support for the next Fiscal Year 2014-09, a high placed government official informed Daily Times Saturday.
