Italy plans to send a delegation of more than 30 companies and 40 brands to this year’s China Fashion Week and a pavilion of almost 50 fabric companies to the InterTextile 2014 in Beijing, an Italian official said yesterday.
As the largest overseas exhibitor, Italy will showcase woven, knitted, leather and fur garments as well as accessories for men, women and children at the event, which will cover an area of over 700 sq m, said Antonino Laspina, trade commissioner of the Italian Trade Commission’s Beijing office. in exports in February
this year.
The data of the Garment Association – Nepal (GAN) shows that Nepali readymade garment manufacturers exported a mere US$ 2.01 million worth of products to the US, the largest apparel market, in February. AGREEMENT: Benji Limited Company signed an agreement on March 10 with the Board of Investment (BOI) under the 300 Factories Programme, which is an important part of the Mahinda Chinthana the Government’s economic plan.
Benji Limited is a 100% Italian investment that has two existing sister companies in Sri Lanka. They are Omega Line Ltd, which was established in 1998 in Sandalankawa and Serio Limited, which was established in 2001 in Badalgama.

Firms struggle to deal with Chinese goods

The Commerce Ministry has pledged to encourage closer partnerships between Thai textile and garment manufacturers and the world’s leading brands. It also wants to bolster the competitiveness of local retail and wholesale firms, particularly in the Bo Bae area, to compete with cheap Chinese goods.
Commerce Minister Mingkwan Sangsuwan said the ministry planned to organise match-making between Thai manufacturers and French and Italian counterparts and seek ways on how to make Thai textile manufacturers supply textiles, fabric or even garments to the world’s leading brands, particularly in the European Union.
