So whether you’re looking to bring on the bling, or want to add some sparkle with a sentimental piece, Bobbie Thomas, TODAY Style Editor and author of the Buzz for In Touch Weekly, has just the jewelry for you! Read more about Sparkle of the season: The best jewelry trends

Lead Testing Results You Need to Know

Lead Testing Results You Need to Know
WISH, IN

INDIANAPOLIS – We all know the dangers of lead to young children. That’s why the government sets standards for lead content in everything from toys to jewlery.

But as we’ve learned from months of recalls those standards aren’t always met and lead laden products have been found on store shelves. So we went shopping, this time putting jewelry to the test. And what we found caught us by surprise.

An earring from a jewlery store tested at 52 percent lead, more than 860 times the amount the government deems safe. So, if a toddler swallowed this earring?

“It could kill the toddler. That’s an incredible amount of lead for a child to ingest,” said Karla Johnson the Program Manager of the Marion County Health Department’s Lead Division. Read more about Lead Testing Results You Need to Know

CAD/CAM Dilemma : Who Owns This Design

I suppose I should thank my father for encouraging my curiosity about technology. In the 60’s, he was the type of jeweler who would buy almost anything at a trade show if it had an electrical cord attached.

In the 80’s I worked with some wonderful people at ASC designing software for jewelers and cutting my teeth on what was then a “high tech” PC computer. The job taught me a lot about working with computers and confidential data and although computer use by jewelers has expanded significantly, I keep in mind those early lessons about data management. The star — real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. — is being sued by Jack Sutton Fine Jewelry, who allege he failed to pay for a diamond ring and necklace he purchased earlier this month.
