A new high-tech range of Merino sports and body garments is being launched in the United States, following a collaboration between Australian Wool Innovation and European producer of seamless apparel, Memteks.
According to AWI, Memteks supplies quality, innovative seamless intimate apparel, active wear, swim wear, maternity wear and yoga wear.

4th garment factory to announce closure in a month

Garment manufacturer Neo Fashion Inc. is shutting down operations on Saipan by Jan. 13, 2014. The closure will affect 78 employees who are mostly nonresident workers.

The San Antonio-based Neo Fashion is the fourth garment factory to announce closure and suspension of factory operations on the island within the last month.

Overtime work, lack of union still mar Cambodia’s garment industry

Workers’ rights to form associations or unions are yet to be improved and the problem of overtime work addressed for Cambodia’s cloth-making industry, said the 17th Synthesis Report on Working Conditions in Cambodia’s Garment Sector released here on Thursday.

Three quarters of the factories monitored have at least one union, although nine percent of the factories interfered with freedom of association, and 6 percent engaged in anti-union discrimination, said the report issued by the International Labor Organization’s (ILO) Better Factories Cambodia.

IT dept unearths income worth Rs 2.5 cr

CHANDIGARH: Income Tax sleuths conducted raids at two city-based retail garment stores and discovered an undisclosed income of Rs 2.5 crore, besides recovering unaccounted cash of over Rs 50 lakh.

The raids at retail garment outlets housed in eleven premises were conducted yesterday by the Investigation Wing of the IT department, official sources said.
