Textile Group’s profit rises 47.9 percent

The Viet Nam Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) in the first six months this year made increases of 19.4 percent in revenues and 47.9 percent in profit as compared to the same period last year.

(SGT-HCMC) About 30 textile and garment enterprises joined a trading session for the sector’s machinery and materials in HCMC yesterday during a conference of the HCMC Association for Garment-Textile-Embroidery-Knitting (Agtek).

KOLKATA, July 18: The readymade garments business, though thriving in the state, may soon experience a slump if the government does not take immediate steps to stop labour exodus and ensure steady supply of power.
Addressing the Press at the inaugural ceremony of the 32nd Buyers Sellers Meet in the city today, Mr Vijay Kariwala, president designate of the West Bengal Garment Manufacturers and Dealers Association, said the sector grew at a rate of 20 per cent last year. “The trend is likely to continue as there is a huge demand for our products but we have to overcome a number of constraints,” he said. Tung Phuong Garment Company, recently, signed a contract worth US $400,000 of exports to Belgium market, officials of the company said.

This contract will be wrapped up by September, 2014.

Fabric mongers are stitching together a message: Unite against gentrification!

Responding to an influx of offices and hotels that have driven up rents in the fashion district, business activists in the midtown neighborhood have declared Wednesday “Save the Garment Center Pin Day.”

Appropriately, business owners are taking up needles to promote the event, designing fabric pins embroidered with the “Save the Garment Center” logo.
