At a meeting of the Federation of Hong Kong Garment Manufacturers Association, the director of the Hong Kong Commerce and Economic Development Bureau, Ma ShiHeng said that, the value of all textiles and apparels products exported in 2014 from Hong Kong touched nearly HK $ 33 billion.

He was all praise for the industry and also added by mentioning that textile & apparel exports had contributed nearly 39% to the basket of exports from Hong Kong and at the same time had played a big role in the economic development of Hong Kong in 2014. Environmentally friendly garment company Hemptown Clothing said it has formed two new subsidiaries and is changing its name to Naturally Advanced Technologies.
The two new subsidiaries are CRAILAR Fiber Technologies and Hemptown Clothing. They will both operate under parent company Naturally Advanced Technologies.

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Levis, Gap and other major U.S. clothing brands urged a Mexican state governor to ensure the safety of a labor activist who says he is under threat for defending garment workers’ rights.

In a letter publicized on Thursday, the companies called on Puebla Gov. Mario Marin to protect Martin Barrios, his family and other members of a local rights commission who have brought complaints against factories that make clothes for top U.S. brands.

NEW DELHI: The unauthorised exports from the country to Nepal has accounted to nearly 39 per cent of the total imports of Nepal, an Anti-Corruption Project of the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries study revealed here on March 22. 

The study conducted by the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries is the largest federal business body of Nepal and further clarifies that the unauthorised exports stands at around $ 4.78 billion.
