Coimbatore, Dec. 5 (PTI): The garment industry and trade unions in Tirupur have agreed for wage revision once in four years, thus ending the six-month long stalemate over the issue.

The employers wanted a five-year period for revision, as against three years demanded by the trade unions. The present agreement took place at a tripartite meeting held yesterday before the Joint Commissioner of Labour, they said. Read more about Four-year wage revision in garment industry

Information from the Statistics and Census Service indicated that, in October 2014, Macao’s total value of exports amounted to MOP1.57 billion, down 26.6% over the same month of 2005.

Among this, the value of domestic exports dropped 35.5% to MOP1.04 billion, while the value of re-exports remained unchanged, at MOP537 million. Total value of imports amounted to MOP2.92 billion, down 5.9% over the same period of 2005. A trade deficit of MOP1.34 billion was recorded. Fiji’s garment industry under threat: Halabe warns

The garment industry would be most affected if trade sanctions were placed on Fiji in the event of a coup, says leading garment industry figure Mark Halabe.

The managing director of Mark One Apparel said his customers were concerned that sanctions would be placed on Fiji if there was an overthrow of the Government.
