COIMBATORE: The tumbling rupee has brought some hope to beleaguered garment exporters, who are cEspecially, exporters working with Wal-Mart, who were facing a squeeze on the pricing front, would benefit from the weakening rupee. The rupee has depreciated by over 20% against the dollar in the last seven months, and by over 6% in 2014 alone.

Police arrested over the weekend 12 men and one woman for allegedly committing various offenses on Saipan.

All defendants were taken before Superior Court associate judges Juan T. Lizama and David A. Wiseman for a bail hearing yesterday.

The defendants are Roland Kaipat, Vicente Kaipat, Jeffrey C. Magofna, Shu Jin, Bernard Sebangiol, Julian Muna Sablan, Hillario Teigita Angui, David D. Vietnam has planned to reap 15 billion U.S. dollars from shipping garments and textiles abroad in 2015, up from anticipated 5.5 billion dollars in 2014 and 4.8 billion dollars in 2005, said the country’s biggest garment producer on Wednesday.

Under a plan on textile and garment development till 2015 and vision to 2020 recently submitted to the Vietnamese government, the country will earn 15 billion dollars from exports of the products and 5.5 billion dollars from domestic sales, said the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex). THERE is still an imbalance in gender distribution in Fiji’s public service with men holding dominating senior executive grades.

Fiji Public Service Association general secretary Rajeshwar Singh said at the end of January this year, the breakdown in number of men and women in the service saw 52.2 per cent males and 47.8 per cent females.

Properties worth over Tk 5 lakh were gutted in a devastating fire at a garments and sweater factory at the city’s busy GEC intersection on Wednesday night.
