Hong Kong Int'l Jewelry Show to open

BEIJING, Feb. 20 — The annual Hong Kong International Jewelry Show will open on March the fourth. The results of the tenth Hong Kong Jewelry Design Competition will be announced at the fair.

Feeling pinched, more people turn gold jewelry into cash

More people are taking advantage of a bump in the price of gold to turn their old jewelry into cash.

“I hear people saying times are hard and there’s bills to be paid,” said Richard DeBord, owner of the Santa Cruz Coin Exchange and a jeweler since 1975.

Gold prices hit record high

DAMMAM – Gold prices in the local market have hit a record high with 24 karat gold being sold for SR113 per gram on Monday. This is the highest price ever recorded for the yellow metal, according to gold traders in the Eastern Province.
Over the past week, prices have gone up by SR5 per gram, with a rise of SR3 over the weekend.
According to a survey, gold jewelry consumption has dropped by 9 percent in the UAE, 10 percent in Saudi Arabia, and 11 percent in other Gulf countries. Read more about Gold prices hit record high

MILFORD, Ohio – An Ohio jewelry store is giving away free heart necklaces until Valentine’s Day to people who can prove they have lost their jobs or homes this year.
