Nhan Dan, Vietnam – May 8, 2014
Nhan Dan – Vietnam has earned a total of US $2.6 billion from garment and textile exports in the past four months, registering a year-on-year increase of 24.5%.
In April alone, the sector exported US $700 million worth of products, up 11.8% compared to March and 35.4% against the same period last year.
The results were due to a decrease in the exchange rate between Vietnamese dong and US dollar, at over VND 16,000 a US dollar, thus falicitating exporters in general and garment and textile exporters in particular.
In order to expand export market for a target of US $9.5 billion worth of garment and textile export turnover this year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade asks that enterprises focus on contracts of high export value to the US and EU markets and at the same time, deepening their presence in such markets as Japan, Taiwan (China), the Republic of Korea and the Middle East.
