Did you know that the basic ingredient of chocolate, namely cocoa, is Indonesia’s flagship product? How is cocoa production in Indonesia?
There are two versions regarding cocoa production in Indonesia. Another version of the International Cocoa Organization (ICCO) is only around 200 thousand tons.
The following are the centers of the largest cocoa producing regions in Indonesia: Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, West Sumatra. Those the five largest producing regions, most of the cocoa products in Indonesia have fat with a high melting point.
Apart from being processed into chocolate bars, powders, and other food products, cocoa can be processed into various other products.
Cocoa butter can be processed into: Lipbalm Moisturizing, Scrub Supplement, Soap. And other ingredients from cocoa, such as pulp (coating on the beans) and skin, can be processed into: Nata de cocoa soap and Animal feed. These products are also developed and marketed by the Research Center Coffee and Cocoa in Jember (East Java). Cocoa is Indonesia’s leading export product, even Indonesia has hosted international cocoa conferences.
