Amazon’s Shipment of Jewelry, Watches More Than Double in 4Q06

RAPAPORT… Online retailer Amazon.com reported that jewelry sales (including diamonds) more than doubled during its fiscal fourth quarter of 2006. Seattle-based Amazon does not release sales figures for jewelry.
The company reported that shipments of diamond stud earrings increased 130 percent, and colored gemstone jewelry orders increased 100 percent.
Watch sales on Amazon.com in the fourth quarter increased 171 percent. Amazon.com offers some 200 brands and 8,000 styles of watches. Prices range from $15 (for a Lego watch) to $500,000 (for a 53 carat Diamond Audemars Piguet watch.)
