DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) – Burglars got away with more than $26,000 in jewelry from a Dubuque pawn shop.
Police said the theft occurred between Friday night and Saturday morning. The jewelry was taken from the shop’s display cases.
The shop’s owner, Michael Vandermillen, says he has no insurance.
He says the burglar alarm was turned off because he had two previous false alarms and was facing a possible fine from the city.
Vandermillen says surveillance cameras were on and he hopes they will help police catch the burglars.
