Chippewa Falls jewelry store hit by cars twice in a year

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. – Alice Olson’s jewelry store isn’t a drive-through, but she might want to reconsider after two cars crashed into her business in separate incidents over the past year.
Last year a vehicle crash sent a car and a traffic light into Olson’s corner store in a spray of glass. Then on May 7, an unoccupied car rolled backward into the store window, breaking glass and damaging the frame.
“Someone said, ‘Isn’t it ironic that you’ve been run into twice when you are right next to the driving school,”‘ said Olson, owner of Fiedler’s Jewelry. “Other than that, people have chuckled.”
In the more recent incident, the car’s owner told Chippewa Falls police she left it parked in neutral. The store was closed at the time, but it was open during last year’s crash.
“One car came and hit the corner of the store. The other car hit the traffic light, and the traffic light came through the window,” she said. “That was scary.”
