Cotton prices continue to maintain steady trend

Coimbatore (PTI): Cotton lint prices continued to remain steady during the first fortnight of the month, according to South India Cotton Association (SICA).

The lint prices retained its steady trend in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan, where Bengal Deshi variety ruled Rs 1,900 to Rs 2,100 and J-34 Saw ginned Rs 2,300 to Rs 2,500 per maund spot, SICA, in its market report for the period, said.

With Shankar-6 quoting Rs 23,000 to Rs 23,500 and V-797 Rs 17,500 to Rs 17,800 per candy spot, prices maintained a steady to firm trend in Gujarat.

Prices were steady to firm in Madhya Pradesh, with MECH-1/H4 ruling at Rs 21,000 to Rs 22,000 per candy spot, while prices ranged between Rs 21,500 and Rs 22,300 per candy spot for 28-3 mm staple in Maharashtra.

Lint prices continued to rule steady to firm in Andhra Pradesh as MCU 5 quoted Rs 22,000 to Rs 22,700 per candy spot.

DCH-32 ruled between Rs 29,500 and Rs 30,100 per candy spot in Karnataka,indicating a steady to firm trend. In Tamil Nadu also prices ruled steady to firm during the period, SICA said.
