Surprise — you don’t have to be rich as Trump to shop at the Palm Beach Jewelry & Antique Show.
“That’s one of the common misconceptions,” says Gus Davis, a partner with Camilla Dietz Bergeron in Manhattan. “We have a lot of first-time buyers who are surprised that they can actually find a very nice $200 pair of cuff links alongside a $900,000 Cartier bracelet when they visit our booth.”
No bargains, true, unless you’re a history buff: This show boasts the best of vintage jewels.
Simon Teakle, former head of the jewelry department at Christie’s and now the jewelry buyer for A. E. Betteridge Jewelers, says, “When browsing society pages, auction catalogs and coffee-table books it appears everything from 18th-century Neo Classical to Art Deco and Etruscan revival to 1960s pop culture has an appeal to a seemingly unending audience.”
