Fire in garment factory kills 7 in eastern India, officials say

CALCUTTA, India – A fire gutted a garment factory in eastern India, killing seven workers early Monday, officials said.
The fire took place in the sari embroidery factory in Howrah, a suburb of Calcutta, when sparks from some electrical wires caught a can of diesel fuel lying in the factory, said Gopal Bhattacharjee, the director of the state fire department.
The fire has been brought under control Bhattacharjee said.
