VietNamNet – The Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas) and the Saigon Times have announced ‘the most outstanding textile and garment companies in 2014’.
This is the third time the best textile and garment companies have honoured and according to the organising board, this year’s awards will play an important role in Vietnam’s textile and garment industry development, as 2014 will be the last year before Vietnam officially joins the WTO.
In the WTO, Vietnamese companies would have the opportunity to export more to the world, but will also have to compete fiercely on the domestic market and state subsidies will ultimately be cut.
The organising board will not only honour companies with the highest achievements in production and exports, but will also draw public attention to solutions for them to improve their business.
Best garment companies will be judged by 10 criteria, including business achievement, strength of brandname, growth rate and position on the domestic market. Companies that can develop products with outstanding differentiating features and produce cloth for export will be favoured.
There will also be three award groups for the local textile and garment companies: most outstanding textile and garment company of the year, top 10 outstanding companies in general and top 10 outstanding companies in specific fields.
Results will be announced in September and the awards ceremony will take place in Hanoi.
