Garment workers clash with cops

Several hundred garment factory workers clashed with the police in and around Kafrul Police Station in the capital yesterday afternoon while demonstrating against the arrest of six garment workers’ leaders on October 10.
Police arrested 23 workers from the spot after they damaged several vehicles.
The garment workers brought out a procession at Kachukhet at about 4:30pm and gathered in front of the police station. They continued the demonstration there for about an hour, police said.
Later they threw brickbats at the policemen and vandalised several vehicles, prompting the police to charge batons on them.
