Government has decided to strictly monitor the issue of certificates of origin so as to deal with the problem of transhipment in the country.
Study conducted by United States Customs Office has revealed that many Indonesian businessmen have carried out transhipment practices for exporting garments from other countries to the US
Such practices have become frequent since the US restricted the imports of textile from certain countries, especially China.
Widespread transhipment from the country is affecting the domestic textile and garment industry and becomes vulnerable for some kind of prohibition or excise duties that may be imposed by the US.
