Int’l textile-garment groups invest in Vietnam

VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnam Textile and Garment Association (Vitas) revealed that many foreign textile-garment groups have come to Vietnam to build their factories.
Recently Malaysia’s Pamatex Berhad Group has been licenced to invest in a textile-garment project worth over US$100 million in the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone in central Quang Nam province.
Meanwhile, Daewon of the Republic of Korea has decided to build a garment factory serving export worth $8 million in the Hoa Khanh Industrial Zone in central Da Nang City. Previously, Daewon invested in a garment factory in HCM City’s Vinh Loc Industrial Zone and a textile plant in the Nhon Trach I Industrial Zone in southern Dong Nai province.
Taiwan’s Formosa Group, after investing more than $500 million into the Nhon Trach Industrial Zone several years ago, plans to pour an additional of $400 million to expand its production.
