MILWAUKEE – Jewelry thieves hit a store in downtown Milwaukee. Surveillance video shows they got in, and got the job done in just minutes.

The jewelry store has been in business 81 years and has never had any type of theft, until now.

Kloiber Jewelers at 4th and Wisconsin was the target of a massive burglary: thousands of dollars worth of diamonds and gold gone.

It was a bold and brazen break-in, but fortunately for Milwaukee police and jewelry store owners, a security camera caught it all.

“There I was with this mess and horror. It’s shocking,” Karin Volz of Kloiber Jewelers said.

Karen Volz owns the store.

“Just shock, just complete shock. We’ve never had any kind of theft in the history of the store,” Volz said.

The brazen crooks were caught on camera as they smashed a glass window and quickly crawled in. They took their time selecting which display case to steal from, throwing the diamonds and gold into a dark duffle bag.

The thieves used a large screw driver type tool to pry the doors open. They reached in and cleaned out the display cases.

“They took whatever they could, displays, the jewelry and went into my diamond case and my gold case,” Volz said.

Police don’t think this was their first heist and they fear it won’t be their last. As for Karin, seeing video of the suspects ransacking through her store is disgusting.

“It’s not right. It’s a terrible thing to do something like this,” Volz said.

Milwaukee police think this burglary could be connected to another crime outside of Chicago. A goldsmith was robbed on the street there. They want anyone with information on the case to give them a call. Milwaukee police are also looking to see if these guys are connected to other jewelry store robberies in Wisconsin.
