Key buyers from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) have expressed their interest in Motexha 2014 as the preferred platform where they can source quality, textile, garment, leather products and accessories from the international exhibitors who are coming to the show.

Motexha 2014, the Middle East region’s largest trade show for fashion, textiles, leather and accessories, is set to take place between 3rd-6th April 2014 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre. Featuring 250 exhibitors from 30 countries, the exhibition brings together international and local exhibitors, alongside government trade associations to do business with the region’s prominent trade buyers and retailers

Geoffrey Booy, Exhibition Director, Motexha 2014, said, “Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s recent accession to the WTO served to expanding volumes of textiles trade happening in that country. Traditionally, Motexha has been a key event for Saudi Arabian buyers, who are attracted by the event’s high profile exhibitors from leading manufacturing countries such as China, Turkey, Thailand and India.”

Dubai is a key destination for textile buyers from Saudi Arabia. Re-export of textiles forms the major activity of trade between KSA and Dubai. In 2004, exports of textile was worth more than AED 132 million, roughly representing 14 per cent of the total value of AED 968 million.

Osama M. Karkar, General Manager, Asma Stores, one of the leading retailers in the Kingdom said, “Competition has been heating up throughout the globe as manufacturers and brands vie to gain market dominance in this strategic sector. In addition, the move to liberalise markets have had an impact on the manufacturers who are now looking at secondary export markets, i.e. markets outside, North America and Euro Zone, in order to remain competitive. Asian and key regional manufacturers are concentrating on Saudi Arabia for exporting their products.”

“Motexha is an important event for us, because the show enables us to meet with the manufacturers who can provide us with the high quality products and helps us to meet the margins that we require,” he added.

Motexha has been the key platform for business development and networking between traders and international exhibitors for the last 28 years. Motexha provides an excellent B2B environment for large retail buyers looking to sell to independent retailers and for sourcing suppliers. Motexha is officially supported by Texmas, 300 member strong textile merchants group and the promoters of the AED 220 million Dubai Textile City.
