COIMBATORE: The Confederation of Indian Textile Industry and the Integrated Database India Limited will organise ‘Tex Trade Today’, a textile exhibition, on January 19 and 20, next.

The exhibition, to be held in Bangalore, will have two sessions – B to B and B to C. The former session is for yarn and fabric manufacturers and will have garment and home textile manufacturers as visitors. The latter session will have the garment and home textile manufacturers as the exhibitors and consumers as visitors.

The event will showcase all the products of the textile sector, from yarn to garments, said D.K. Nair, secretary of the confederation. Overseas visitors and delegates are also expected.

“This is the first edition and we want to make it an annual event,” he said. Mr. Nair explained that with rupee appreciation, Indian textile exports were under pressure.

“So the fate of the industry is more linked to the domestic market now.” The domestic market should be encouraged and given more thrust and the event was aimed at achieving this, he said.

During the two days, seminars would be held on ‘Garment Led Textile Growth’ and ‘Textile and Clothing Exports Trends and Prospects.’
