W.D.M. jewelry store among ‘coolest’ in U.S.

Josephs Jewelers’ West Glen store in West Des Moines is No. 2 on In Store magazine’s list of the 10 Coolest Jewelry Stores in America.
The jewelry industry publication devotes four pages to the Josephs store, which opened last year. The store was designed by Des Moines architect Daryl Metzger in the prairie-style architecture made popular in the early 20th century by Frank Lloyd Wright.
One of the magazine’s judges said: “The exterior design is fantastic. … The structure is very well lit in the evening to highlight the architectural detailing of Frank Lloyd Wright, and the water feature only adds to the unique nature of the design. … The romance of a jewelry purchase is enhanced by an environment that is intimate and cozy.” Said another judge: “The exterior is wonderful and pulls you into the store. It’s so fresh.”
