TORONTO, ON – Second Skin Garment Co. is adding the most recognizable name in Canadian golf to its line-up as the Toronto-based apparel company solidifies its position as an industry leader across Canada.

In a bold strategic move, Second Skin Garment Co. is set to increase its market share with the addition of the popular Weir Golf Collection, as well as the up and coming Grace Lane line, worn by veteran Lorie Kane on the LPGA Tour. The move allows the company to enhance its stable of great Canadian brands that include: Second Skin outerwear, performance driven Hollas golf apparel, Ahead headwear, as well as Phenix ski clothing.

The merger will see Mississauga-based Waterford Industries, the licensee for Weir Golf and owner of Grace Lane amalgamate with Second Skin Garment Co. at the company headquarters in Woodbridge.

“Our goal is to be market leaders in Canada by creating a more focused product driven collection that will allow us to aggressively grow the business and strengthen the brands with a dedicated team approach to outstanding customer service,” Keogh says. He has been spearheading the growth of Weir Golf since its inception in 2002, a year before Weir won The Masters at Augusta National. He will now oversee Second Skin’s strategic, operational and finance practices as
company President, while Nichols will focus on ski and golf sales and marketing strategies as Executive Vice-President of Sales and Marketing.

“While the 2014 golf season is just getting started in Canada we’re already planning for 2014,” Nichols says. “This is a very exciting time at Second Skin Garment Co. All of our brands have more opportunities to grow as a result of the merger and we will expand the product lines to focus on further distribution to pro shops and golf specific retailers in Canada, as well as markets in the United States and Asia.”

Second Skin Garment Co. remains committed to Canadian golf. It now has Mike Weir and Ron Harvey Jr. wearing the Weir Golf Collection, Lorie Kane sporting Grace Lane on the LPGA Tour and both Jon Mills and David Hearn showcasing Hollas on the Nationwide Tour.

The PGA TOUR also has an agreement with Weir Golf to bring 2014 Presidents Cup licensed merchandise to the Canadian marketplace this year. The Presidents Cup will be held at Royal Montreal in Ile Bizard, Quebec from September 24 – 30.

Second Skin Garment Co. was founded in 1988. It evolved into a leading edge outerwear company in the mid-1990s when it entered the golf market and has since developed into one of the most recognizable brands in the Canadian golf industry. The trend-setting Hollas line was introduced in 2002 and remains focused on highly technical athletic lines for younger male and female golfers. Weir Golf and Grace Lane are oriented along traditional styling for fashion-conscious adults.
