The rejection of export destination countries for fishery products originating from Indonesia is still ongoing until now. These actions are carried out, usually because fishery products do not meet the requirements set by the country.
Meanwhile, Indonesia’s main export destinations are the United States, China, Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries, the European Union, and countries in the Middle East region.
In addition to the technical aspects that must be considered, so that no more Indonesian fishery products are rejected by export destination countries, the institutional and regulatory aspects must also undergo improvements. This is done, so that the monitoring and control process can continue to run well, carried out by the KKP.
The supervision focuses on all fishery products that will become export products. The trick is to carry out harmonization of product standards and guidance to fishery industry, as well as carry out supervision and management of marine resources as raw materials for the fishing industry.
It is known, Indonesia is one of the largest exporters of fishery products in the world. In 2020, exports of fishery products reached a value of USD 5.2 billion, with USD 4.84 billion of which came from fishery products that could be consumed directly.
Based on 2020 data, as many as 2,191 fish processing units (UPI) have also exported to 157 partner countries with the main export commodities including Shrimp, TCT, Squid, Crab and Crab, Seaweed, and Layur fish.
