Sears names top jewelry executive

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. –

Sears Holdings Corp., which operates Sears and Kmart stores, on Monday named Michelle Pearlman senior vice president and president, jewelry.

Pearlman previously led the Internet sales division of AnnTaylor Stores Corp., and formerly was an associate principal at McKinsey & Co. working on turning around retail companies.

Led by financier Edward Lampert, Sears is in the midst of a restructuring aimed at reconnecting with shoppers and reinvigorating same-store sales. Sales in stores open at least one year have suffered declines for the past 10 quarters.

“As we continue to work to transform our business, we have been concentrating on strengthening our leadership bench,” said Bruce Johnson, interim chief executive and president of Sears, in a statement.
