Ohio store gives jewelry to jobless

MILFORD, Ohio – An Ohio jewelry store is giving away free heart necklaces until Valentine’s Day to people who can prove they have lost their jobs or homes this year.

Norris Jewelers in the Cincinnati suburb of Milford has joined at least 44 other jewelers across the country in the giveaway that started at a jewelry store in Ventura, Calif.

An owner of the Milford store says giving away the silver chains that hold sterling silver hearts studded with stones is a way to give back to the community and brighten the lives of people hit hard by the economy.

Owner Dale Robertson says the store has 100 of the necklaces valued at $99 to give to anyone who can show proof of recent unemployment or home foreclosure.
