Nepal’s import of readymade garments to India were worth Rs 29.13
crore during 2004-05.
Minister of state for Commerce Jairam Ramesh informed that chinese originated garments were not being smuggled through Nepal taking advantage of duty free access under Indo-Nepal trade treaty.
The Minister replying to a question informed seven structures of food and beverage units were unauthorised at Pragati Maidan out of 10 long-term licensees.
He said notices have been issued to all the seven units to remove the unauthorised structures.
