Italian garment investment for Bingiriya

AGREEMENT: Benji Limited Company signed an agreement on March 10 with the Board of Investment (BOI) under the 300 Factories Programme, which is an important part of the Mahinda Chinthana the Government’s economic plan.
Benji Limited is a 100% Italian investment that has two existing sister companies in Sri Lanka. They are Omega Line Ltd, which was established in 1998 in Sandalankawa and Serio Limited, which was established in 2001 in Badalgama.
Both companies are operated from rural areas and have decided to expand their presence in the country.
Benji Limited will have a state-of-the-art factory in Bingiriya, which identified as a “difficult area” under the 300 FP. The estimated investment of this project is Rs. 760 Million and employment generated is 1534. Benji’s product lines will include mainly lingerie (non quota garments)
The parent company of Benji Limited will sell their products through a network of over 1250 shops in Europe. They also have their internationally recognized own label namely “Intimissimi” for lingerie products.
The Board of Directors of the Benji Limited consists of S.T. Nagendra, Sandro Veronesi, Vincenzo Jopplo and J. D. Peiris.
