SPRINGFIELD — Von Bargen’s Jewelry on Friday officially opened their Springfield store and manufacturing facility in the Springfield Shopping Plaza.

Von Bargen’s Jewelry first opened in Springfield in 1978 and had been located at 8 Summer St.

“When we first opened the Springfield location, it was just my wife Leslie and I,” said the owner, John Von Bargen. “We’ve been fortunate to have realized a tremendous amount of growth since those early days.

He said that growth required that the company find a much larger building.

As a manufacturing jeweler, Von Bargen’s also required additional space to increase manufacturing capacity to meet the demands of the four stores.

“Where we had one jeweler’s bench at our Summer Street location, we will have three at the new store,” Von Bargen said. “We’ve also brought in additional, state-of-the-art jeweler’s equipment that will increase efficiency.”

The new location marks a substantial increase in retail space with a 900-square-foot showroom in the 2,400-square-foot space.

Von Bargen operates three additional locations in Stratton, Burlington and Hanover, N.H. The company has 14 employees with Springfield serving as the corporate headquarters.

Springfield store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday.
