Gitanjali Partners with Wimbledon for Branded Jewelry Line

Indian diamond firm Gitanjali Gems has acquired licensee rights to develop and market jewelry for the Wimbledon tennis championship. The company has been given a three-year contract to promote Wimbledon Jewellery, a collection of tennis bracelets and pendants.
Gitanjali will create a jewelry line of 500 pieces, to be marketed in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, China and Asia over the next three months. The jewelry company was previously associated with the ICC World Cup.
Accessories in alternative metals such as steel and titanium will also be considered.
Gitanjali is interested in reaching jewelry consumers in the international markets. According to Anuj Rakyan, Gitanjali’s vice president of retail, “The company aims to objectively use international events as a platform to launch its brands to overseas markets.â€
The DTC Sightholder also unveiled a tennis ball studded with 4,300 diamonds, which will be awarded to the winner of Wimbledon Champions 2007.
