Mignoni Jewelry will have to deal with vendors in front of its Mill Street business in Bristol this weekend. Bucks County Judge Jeffrey Finley on Friday denied the jeweler’s request for an injunction to stop any vendor from operating outside its doors during an arts and crafts fair today and Sunday and an Italian Festival Sunday, according to borough solicitor Richard Snyder.
The Mill Street store’s filing in Bucks County court in Doylestown requested that the Bristol Borough Business Association, which is hosting the Annual Arts and Crafts Fair, not be allowed to assign a merchant space in front of the jewelry store.
Mignoni Jewelry refused to comment. The Courier Times was unsuccessful in reaching attorney Charles D. Jonas, the store’s counsel, for comment Friday.
The fair also will be in conjunction with a Doo Wop Concert Saturday.
Mignoni Jewelry intends to hold a special sale celebrating its 60th anniversary Sunday, according to the petition. The petition states that last year, a two-story vendor was placed in front of the jewelry store, blocking Mignoni Jewelry’s storefront. That interfered with the store’s business, the petition reads.
Before heading to court, the jewelry store had asked the business association to keep the storefront clear of vendors. But, in a letter dated Aug. 21, the association notified Mignoni Jewelry that the fair is the only moneymaker for the association and arrangements for merchants begin about six months in advance.
So the all booths had been assigned, the letter stated. But the association said if a vendor cancels, booths can be moved to clear the front of the jewelry store.
