XENIA – The holiday season is looming in the distance, but this year the county library system has though of a way to help out.
The Greene County Public Library system will be playing host to the second-ever Costume Jewelry Sale later this month at the Xenia Community Library. Organizers moved the sale closer to the holidays this year after an outpouring of requests following the 2006 spring sale.
Community Engagement Officer Christi Cox said the first sale in 2006 was very successful, and the library system already has received a large number of donations for this year’s sale
“People really enjoyed it,†she said. “If you like costume jewelry, there will be plenty of it there.â€
The sale will take place Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 76 E. Market St, and Cox said almost all pieces donated to the sale go for close to $1, making it easy to enhance the jewelry wardrobe or take care of some holiday shopping, while benefiting the library system.
The money raised from the sale will go to the Greene County Public Library Foundation, where it will pay for special events at the library, including guest speakers, exhibits and special projects.
Cox said the libraries are still accepting donations of costume jewelry without any limitations on what can be donated. Jewelry can be dropped off at any library location in Greene County, but the sale, she said can only happen in Xenia.
