BUDAPEST – Two Turkish companies joined the 5th Hungoro International Jewelry Fair in Hungarian capital of Budapest from March 6th and 9th.

Silver and gold jewelry as well as valuable stones were on display at the fair in which 60 companies from 14 countries participated.

“We are marketing gold and silver jewelry that we manufacture in Istanbul to 35 jewelry shops in Hungary,” Seyhmus Gunes, the owner of Solis-Gold — one of the companies that represented Turkey in the fair, told AA correspondent.

Gunes said his company sold 1 ton of gold jewelry to Hungary in 2007.

“Italians were our rival this year as usual, but Turkish companies are increasing their market share each passing day, and getting closer to the Italians,” he told.

On the other hand, Askat Ibraev, an executive of the other Turkish jewelry company “Arpas”, said their company is among the top ten gold jewelry manufacturing firms in the world and they are exporting 14 tons of gold jewelry to 73 countries a year.

“We hope to get the outcome of the fair in coming days,” he also said.
