SHOPPING NOTES: Boise jewelry store finds a new home

For many of us, the start of a new year also brings about an opportunity for change and improvement. Maybe that means remodeling or redecorating your home, or reinventing your personal style. Local shops are ready to help accomplish these tasks and more.

HAL DAVIS JEWELERS

921 W. Jefferson, Boise. 343-6151.

Hal Davis has a brand-new location on the corner of 10th and Jefferson streets. The store opened in early February after moving from its former spot on 8th Street.

The bonus? You’ll never need change for the meter. A parking lot just for Hal Davis customers is located right next to the store. Private Downtown parking is a real luxury item, and Hal Davis president Brian Davis is thrilled to offer this to his customers.

“That was a huge selling point for us,” Davis says.

Inside you’ll find nearly twice the space of the old location, elegant granite floors and new display cases, which will showcase some new designers featured at the store.

FIVE RIVERS

2285 Warm Springs Ave., 388-3871.

Speaking of moving, Five Rivers plans to downsize and relocate to a new location. Its current 10,000-square-foot space is up for sale, and the owners will decide on a new location once they’ve sold the building.

In the meantime, there are great deals to discover on lighting, furniture, clothing and more. This is a great time to buy the chandelier you’ve been wanting, because co-owner Patty Billington says they rarely offer discounts on lighting.

And here’s something you might not know: You can also shop Five Rivers online, where the company has customers from around the world. Check out www.fiverivers.com.

SOGLAD

3136 S. Bown Way, Boise, 342-7160.

If you’re looking for the perfect gift, or something special for yourself, be sure to visit SoGlad in Bown Crossing.

Owner Gladys Durfey (former owner of The Brown Wrapper, a popular store in Boise’s 17th and State Street area until its closure a few years ago) opened the shop in late August. It is loaded with luscious bath and body products, candles, home decor items, handbags and more. It’s also a great place to find a thoughtful hostess gift. And you’ll find a line of eco-friendly greeting cards, too. Check out our Valentine’s Day gift guide (click on the related link on the right) for a few items available at SoGlad.
