The presence of an Italian meeting point, organized by the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT) and the Italian Trade Commission (ICE), at Vietnam Textile & Garment Expo that will occur in Hanoi on next 17-19 April 2014 testifies the great interest of Italian textile machinery industry for Vietnam.

Among the emerging markets for textile machinery, Vietnam is one of the most promising one. In 2005 Vietnam was ranked 16 out of 153 nations manufacturing and exporting textiles and apparel. The heading target for the local authorities is to raise Vietnam up to top 10 of textile and apparel export countries.

Textile and apparel products are considered as key export products of Country and have competitive position in the integration of regional and international markets, stood firmly in the US market, EU countries, Japan, and are under expansion to many other countries and regions. The accession to WTO also creates condition for Vietnamese enterprises to have opportunity to approach new capital sources, high technology and advanced management method, especially from developed countries, such as the United States, European Union and Japan.

Undoubtedly the Vietnamese textile sector is forecasted to grow faster in the next years. To reach the international standards requested for exporting high quality products investments to upgrade the technology are needed. This technology is offered by Italian companies, well-known as providers of excellent textile machinery. At the Italian meeting point of Vietnam Textile & Garment Expo, visitors will find the most up-to-dated Italian technologies in the spinning, weaving, knitting and finishing sectors.

The sales of Italian machinery in Vietnam were about Euro 8 million in the first eleven months of 2014. The most requested Italian machinery were the spinning ones (48% of the total exports toward Vietnam), followed by weaving machines (24%), knitting machines (14%) and finishing machines (14%).

300 Italian companies (with 22,000 employees) that in 2014 produced machinery for a value of Euro 2,600 million, pay the highest attention to the requests of the textile industry to propose new solutions of innovation, productivity, safety with the utmost satisfaction of their clients.

The quality of the Italian textile technology is testified by the high number of Countries where the Italian machinery are sold: about 130. In 2014 exports represented 78% of total sales. Asia (with a share of 45%) is the main destination for Italian sector exports, followed by Europe (35%), Latin America (8%), Africa (6%) and North America (6%).

The partecipation of Italian textile machinery manufacturers at Vietnam Textile & Garment Expo 2014 has been coordinated by ACIMIT and ICE, through its office in Vietnam and its headoffice in Rome.
