Team produces garment fit for queen

More than 200 strands of wool stretched across a loom in front of the newly crowned Lebanon Area Fair Queen, Greta Heagy, yesterday.
“Very good,†said Trudy Kreider in an encouraging tone as Heagy finished a section of a shawl she was learning to make.
Kreider is one of four original members of the Lebanon Valley Woolseys, who have been bringing the popular “Sheep to Shawl†demonstration to the fair at the Lebanon Valley Expo Center and Fairgrounds for more than 18 years. As is tradition, the shawl that the Woolseys make in front of spectators at the fair is given to the new queen as a gift.
Last night, Heagy, 19, who received her crown on the fair’s opening day Saturday, pitched in to help make it.
“I think it’s beautiful,†Heagy said while enjoying her first attempt at weaving. “I love the colors.â€
