John and Jeremy Taylor established the Multay International Group of Companies in the UK in 1989. Born from humble beginnings in an outbuilding in Scaynes Hill in West Sussex the company began manufacturing furniture to sell to retailers in the UK.
The subsidiary company PT Multay International Indonesia set up in 1991 was one of the first foreign owned subsidiaries companies in Indonesia. Customers eager to buy from a reputable source purchase full container loads directly from their factory in Demak, Indonesia.
In early 1998 the company eager to diversify its product range began scouring Eastern Europe for a suitable factory to manufacture traditional oak furniture. After months of fruitless searching they decided to start from a green field site and build a furniture factory from scratch.
