PATRONIZE your own product! A command given to people to show their nationalism to their country. The simple act of buying products produced locally is such a big help to our economy especially now that it is down in the dumps. We Filipinos are usually tempted by “imported products”, blame it on the Spanish, American and Japanese colonizers, curse that colonial mentality. But no matter how much we adore products from the outside we still can’t set aside the fact that we are fun loving people. That’s the reason why fiestas, festivals and the like are usually celebrated with such grandeur and excitement.
In line with the Dinagyang Celebrations which the Iloilo City celebrate every 4th weekend of January, the Philippines Business for Social Progress, a private and non-profit foundation dedicated to promoting business sector commitment to social development which has now over 180 members companies and has harnessed partnership with government, business, NGOs, donor institutions and poverty groups, Peace and Equity Foundation a non-profit foundation that supports efforts of the civil society in eradicating poverty and marginalization in the country held a PORTFair exhibit last January 23-29 at the SM City Iloilo.
PORTFair have been organized mainly to help their members and affiliates, adhering to the principle of strength in coming together. People’s organization’s Regional Trade Fair aims to assist these People’s Organization in Regions 6, 7 and 8 become viable organization in terms of enterprise development and management by providing them with strategic assistance on enterprise development and management, product development and marketing and promotions.
A wide variety if products that’s truly Filipino made.

With the products that the Fair has to offer, all we have to do is to perform our duty. Obey the command, Patronize our Local products and hopefully, this Dinagyang, with the whole city feeling the Hala Bira, may the local products move forward too. Hala Bira!
