KUALA BERANG: The homestay programme in Terengganu has received a good response from tourists from Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong.

State Industrial Development and Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Mohamed Awang Tera said the visitors stayed for several days and sometimes up to a week in the homes of villagers.

“They like the peaceful rural setting especially in areas near fishing and agricultural activities,” he said after presenting certificates to 28 people from Hulu Terengganu who attended a one-day course on the homestay programme here last week.

Mohamed said of the 1,049 participants of the homestay programme nationwide, 47 were from Terengganu.
