New Delhi: Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath will Thursday inaugurate the 11th edition of the Indian Handicrafts and Gifts Fair (IHGF) that is expected to attract a large number of traders from India and abroad.

To be held for the first time in the newly built Indian Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida on the outskirt of Delhi, the fair will have a participation of 1,875 exporters, a ministry statement said Tuesday.

The five-day festival is expected to have over 7,000 overseas buyers representing importers and wholesalers from 57 countries.

The fair will showcase the rich diversity of handicraft items in the country. The product range on display would include art-metal ware, wood ware, home utility items, fashion jewellery, fashion accessories, textiles and furnishings, furniture, floor coverings and decorations.

The event is expected to generate spot orders worth Rs.15 billion ($340 million), thereby giving a major impetus to export of Indian handicrafts, and employment generation.
